In other words our behavior has an impact on our cat's behavior. We need to understand how a cat reacts. We left our cat "sox" at home in the care of a neighbour. She popped in 3 times a day to change the water and put some fresh food out. When we got back sox had completely lost her voice and looked very thin. We realised what had happened when 10 minutes after our return we found 2 other cats in the kitchen. The heighbour hadn't noticed because sox was always out or asleep when she called in. Anyway - safe to say we never leave her with a neighbour again. The cat was very beautiful but extremely temperamental! In fact, in 12 years, she barely warmed up to my husband and me -- but when the kids were born, we eventually had to give her away because she would bite the children. What gives? Is this normal behavior for a Maine Coon? Were they more wild than domestic?
